What We’re Buying on Prime Day Before Traveling the World
We’ve lived on the road for five years and we’re heading out again, this time for a round-the-world journey. These are the real Amazon items we’re stocking up on before we go.

Our 90 Day Restock List for Long Term Family Travel
Let me start with this: use what you have
If something you already own works, keep using it. Patch it, clean it, repurpose it. After five years of living on the road, we’ve learned that shiny new gear doesn’t make the journey better. What does? Reliable stuff. Items that earn their spot in your bag by lasting, performing, and making life easier.
We’re choosing this life for freedom, not to get weighed down by excess.
That said… some things do need replacing. Some gear wears out, gets lost, or just doesn’t make sense for the next phase. With 90 days left before we leave to travel the world again, this time with no return date, we’re using Prime Day to restock the essentials
This is our real life packing list. These are the products we’ve tested, loved, or are buying again because they work. Everything is organized by category so you can browse what matters most to you.
This post contains affiliate links. That means we may earn a small commission if you buy through our links at no cost to you. We only recommend what we truly use and love.
Thank you for supporting our family’s travels, this blog, and everything we’re building. It truly means the world to us.
Best Amazon Travel Gear for Families (2025 Edition)
These are the ride or die items that made it through years of full time travel and the ones we’re re buying without hesitation.
→ Keeps everything compressed and organized. Doubles as pillows or laundry bags. We’ve tested many, zippers matter most
→ Must hang, zip flat, and stay leak free. We accidentally left ours behind (after 5 years of use) so this is one of the few things I’ve been waiting to rebuy during prime days. This Nomatic has been our favorite.
→ Our most used item in cities. It lives in our bum bag and gets used almost daily, groceries, market runs, random errands
→ Perfect for checking packs or staying in hostels. We won’t be flying this time around, but these saved us on earlier trips
→ Great if you’re hopping flights or shipping things. Not coming with us this time, but it earned its keep in the past
Remote Work Must Haves for Traveling Families
Yes, I still work full time on the road, so we need tools that work
→ Used constantly. Our last one lasted years. We’re upgrading before we head out again
→ Must have for switching between regions. Non negotiable if you’re going international
→ Each of us has a set. These are lightweight, over ear, and don’t hurt after long stretches. Big shift away from AirPods. Each of us have our own, but share when needed as well. MUST HAVE - for Digital Nomads! We currently have the OpenFit 2 for my son, OpenRun Pro 2 for my husband, and I have the OpenComm 2 for work.
→ Saves my neck during long work hours. I use this with my external keyboard and number pad. Might ditch it if we’re tight on space but it’s coming for now
→ Worked wonders during our US road trip phase. Not needed for our current route, but worth it for land based travel. We used our weeBoost daily as we airstream'd.
→ I go to bed early (like 6 PM early) and wake up at 1 AM. This is non negotiable when the rest of the fam is on a normal schedule. I hate to say this, but so worth the money.
Favorite Amazon Buys for Traveling with Kids
We keep toys minimal, but these always come with us
→ They live in a packing cube at the bottom of my husband’s daypack. We’re grabbing a few more sets on Prime Day
→ Our favorite screen free dinner hack - Lego's in a pencil pouch. Bonus tip: always include wheels and axles. We swap out a handful every few weeks to keep it fun.
→ Klean Kanteen is our go to. Leak proof, reliable, and long lasting
Homeschool Essentials We Pack for Long Term Travel
Learning happens everywhere, and these tools come with us
→ Always have at least two: one blank, one lined. Used for everything from school to creative time
→ Still a hit after all these years. Great for border crossings, restaurants, quiet time. Bonus Tip - buy the pack and put one in every bag!
→ We each have one. The most used item in our bags, hands down. Books are heavy, these are magic
Travel Hygiene Items Worth Packing (Even if You Can Buy Local)
You can find most things abroad, but a few are worth bringing
→ Don’t get used often, but great for emergency washes or camping stops
→ We DIY ours now, but this is the one we’d buy again in a pinch
→ After a long travel day, being able to throw in laundry right away makes life easier. You can find detergent anywhere, but having a backup is worth it
New Travel Gear We’re Testing for the First Time
A few new additions we’re curious about this year
→ Our son is obsessed with documentary making. We’re supporting his passion, this is a bigger Prime Day buy for us
→ I know this one seems weird, but we have heard too many stories to ignore it this time around.
We’ll report back if they earn permanent status
What We’re Not Packing Again
We’ve learned the hard way, here’s what didn’t make the cut
Travel pillows (bulky and ineffective)
One off clothing (only bringing what’s multi use)
Reusable straws (barely used them)
Hair tools (I’ve mastered no tool styles)
Less is more

We’re so excited for what’s ahead
And we’re even more excited to have it packed right the first time
