We are a family of three who have been traveling full-time for the past several years. We've overlanded, Airstream'd, backpacked, and slow-traveled our way through more than 20 countries and nearly every state in the USA

As we travel, my husband Coddie worldschools our son while I work as a digital nomad. We spent the last two years in Colombia and Central America, living out of our suitcases.

When we first set out on this adventure, the goal was never to travel full-time forever. Our only goal was to find the best place to raise our son. Along the way, we fell in love with the process and the freedom that life as nomads brought us.

Our son, who has been traveling since he was just over a year old, has met his best friend in Panama, backpacked his way through every country in Central America. Danced with locals on the streets of Merida, explored the largest mountain range in the world, watched orca pods play around our boat, and swam in some of the most biodiverse waters on the planet. He has played in the plazas of the Puebla's in Colombia, splashed in the waters of famous surf towns like El Tunco, watched lava bubble in active volcanoes in Nicaragua, and played in the fields of ancient ruins in Guatemala. He has hiked some of the most beautiful National Parks in the United States and has traveled well over 65K thousand kilometers in his short life.

Throughout our travels, our likes, interests, and preferences have constantly evolved. But one thing that has remained consistent is our love for traveling by land. We always feel like we miss too much when we jump on a plane. While I know there will come a time when we’ll have no choice but to fly, we still prefer the slower, more immersive journeys by boat, train, car, bus, or even tuk-tuk.

As we continue our full-time adventure—juggling daily life, launching a new business, and running my established digital nomad work, and this little blog—we’re gearing up for an exciting 6-month tour of the USA in our ‘87 Syncro. The goal? To visit as many homeschool-friendly destinations as possible while promoting our new app, The Adventurous Learner. After that, we’re hopping on a cruise in October to sail over to Japan and kick off our Asia adventures. We have no idea how long we’ll stay or how many countries we’ll explore, but it’s a one-way journey, and we’re ready to see where the road leads us next.

As of now, we do not have social media. While traveling through Central and South America, we found it to be a distraction that took away from the overall experience. As we prepare for this next journey, we are considering sharing again. We don't travel to gain social media followers; we do it because we love traveling and believe that learning through experience is the best form of education for our son.

FAQ's

What is your next adventure?

We're currently building out an '87 Syncro VW Vanagon. Which we will take around The States as we launch our new business. In Fall of 2025 we will be crossing the Pacific to make our way to Japan and travel throughout Asia.

What about your son's education?

We worldschool our son, which is a form of homeschooling. We believe learning through experience is the best form of education for our family, and is the reason we launch The Adventurous Learner.

How long do you plan on traveling for?

As of right now we have no end in sight. We never planned on traveling forever, but we don't see a stopping point in the near future either. After heading to Asia, we'll see where the road takes us.

How do you afford to travel full-time?

We sold everything we had and paid off all our debt to fund our travels. I then started a location-independent business, allowing us to generate income from anywhere. This combination of financial freedom and flexible work lets us explore the world as a family.
